About This Vacuum
The Sanitaire Force Upright Commercial Vacuum is CRI Bronze Seal certified for high-traffic carpets. Its 15-inch cleaning path covers over 25% more area than standard 12-inch models, so fewer passes are needed per room. Commercial-grade suction handles deep carpet cleaning. The washable HEPA exhaust filter captures fine particles. A stretch hose and onboard tools, two-piece wand, crevice tool, dusting brush, reach upholstery, baseboards, and tight corners. The detachable commercial power cord reduces outlet switching on large jobs and simplifies replacement. It runs quietly enough for daytime cleaning in occupied spaces. The bagless 3.5-quart dirt cup eliminates bag costs but requires regular emptying. As a corded upright, cleaning range depends on outlet placement, though the detachable cord design helps manage longer runs across large spaces.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Suction on the SC5845D is very strong and pulls deep sand, grit and embedded pet hair out of carpet. It also seems to hold that strength, with one unit showing no loss after a year and a half. It's built for high-traffic carpet, and that's where it earns its keep.
Far enough to clean large rooms and apartment hallways without switching outlets. No cord length is listed, but the long reach is one of the most common plus points on the Sanitaire SC5845D. The cord also detaches, so it's simple to replace if it gets damaged on a big job.
It's mixed. The canister top on the SC5845D unscrews easily for some and is very hard to turn for others. The filter clogs fast and needs cleaning almost every time you vacuum, which is the real chore with this machine. It's a washable HEPA exhaust filter, so keep it within reach of the trash can.
It varies. Some units break at the wheels, the HEPA side filter or the housing within a couple of years, while others run for a year or more without trouble. For a machine sold as commercial, the Sanitaire SC5845D's wheels and housing are the parts worth watching and treating gently.
No. It's bagless with a dirt cup, so there are no bags to replace, but you'll empty it often on big jobs. Onboard tools include a stretch hose, a two-piece wand, a crevice tool and a dusting brush.
