Yes. Dog and cat hair comes up from carpet and hard floors in a single pass, which is the thing the Ball Animal 3 does best. The 2.08-liter bin also means it can take a full house of shedding before you empty it.

On some, yes. The suction can grab light rugs, and on certain rugs and thicker carpet the head becomes hard to push or gets stuck. It's a common enough complaint that homes with lots of loose or deep rugs should take it seriously.

The hose is a common gripe. The rigid extension wand is awkward to use, and below waist height the hose kinks and loses suction. For stairs and low furniture, expect some wrestling with it.
