About This Vacuum
The BLACK+DECKER Powerseries Extreme Cordless Pet Hair Vacuum is a stick cleaner built on the 3X Cleaning System for multi-surface pickup and anti-tangle performance. Its patented brush bar pairs rubber bristles in a V-shaped pattern to handle pet hair and stubborn dirt without hair wrap that kills suction. It delivers up to 75% better carpet pickup compared to previous models, moving easily from hardwood to area rugs to deep carpets. The twist-to-clean filter system lets you refresh the filter mid-clean without stopping to rinse or replace, delivering up to twice the suction. The removable 20V MAX battery is rated for up to 55 minutes, but with the floor head on medium or high it runs about 10 to 20 minutes. The angled floorhead has LED lights to spot hidden dirt, and 3-speed control adjusts power to match the surface. Switch to handheld mode for stairs, furniture, and car interiors using the extra-long crevice tool. The front-facing dustbin holds 0.75 L and empties with one touch. The vacuum lays flat for under-furniture cleaning and stands on its own. A wall mount is included. Runtime varies by speed setting and surface type, MAX mode runs shorter, lower speeds run longer.
Frequently Asked Questions
About 10 to 20 minutes on medium or high. The 55-minute rating doesn't hold with the powered floor head running. The 20V battery on the BSV2020P is removable, so a spare extends a session, but some units have had charging fail. It's better at quick jobs than long sessions on high.
Yes. Suction is strong, and it's at its best with the powered head on carpet, where it lifts dirt and hair out of the pile. Lower speeds on the Powerseries Extreme stretch the battery, but carpet is where the higher settings earn their keep.
It's a common complaint. On a number of units the brush roll mechanism breaks within months to a few years, and replacement heads are hard to find. If you buy the BSV2020P, keep your receipt and check the warranty terms, because the floor head is the part most likely to fail.
Mostly, yes. In homes with dogs and cats, the BSV2020P handles pet hair well, and the rubber-bristle brush bar is meant to stop wrap. It isn't foolproof, though. Hair can still wind around the brush now and then, occasionally on the first day.
Because the head sits very low. Larger bits like cereal or pebbles get pushed ahead of it instead of picked up. Fine dust, hair and dirt are fine, but for bigger debris on the Powerseries Extreme, switch to handheld mode and use the crevice tool.
It depends on the job. For everyday cleaning the 0.75-liter cup on the BSV2020P is roomy for a stick, but it fills fast with pet hair or on a big job. One-touch emptying keeps the stops short.
