About This Vacuum
The BLACK+DECKER POWERSERIES+ 20V MAX Cordless Stick Vacuum uses AUTOSENSE technology to adjust suction based on floor type, delivering up to 25% more pickup on carpets while extending runtime on hard floors. You get up to 44 minutes of battery life per charge, suitable for quick daily cleanups or deeper weekly sessions in medium-sized homes. The anti-tangle brush bar resists hair and pet fur wrapping. LED lights on the floorhead reveal dust and debris under furniture and in dark corners. Cyclonic filtration keeps the filter cleaner longer, maintaining consistent suction. The stick converts to handheld in seconds and includes a crevice tool for stairs, car interiors, and upholstery. The dust cup is small, and on some units the cup and filter have to come fully apart to empty and are fiddly to latch back on. The self-standing design lets you park it between rooms. The 20V MAX battery works with other BLACK+DECKER tools, so you can swap in a fresh battery if needed. Runtime varies by surface and suction level; thick carpets in auto-boost mode drain the battery faster than hard floors.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. The POWERSERIES+ is light and easy to steer for daily pickups, so it's easy to grab for a quick cleanup. It weighs 8.7 lb, but that doesn't get in the way of moving it around the house.
It's mixed. The cup on the BHFEA18D1 is small, so it needs emptying often. Some find that quick, but for others the cup and filter have to come fully apart and are fiddly to latch back on. Expect to empty it at least once per session.
Well. With cats and shedding dogs, the POWERSERIES+ pulls up a surprising amount of hair and dust. Larger or heavier debris and litter can take a second pass, so slow down over those spots.
Less than the box suggests in heavy use. BLACK+DECKER rates it at up to 44 minutes, but real runs land around 10 to 30 minutes per battery, shorter when boost kicks in. A spare 20V MAX pack, the same one used in the brand's power tools, is the common fix.
Mostly. The POWERSERIES+ powers up on rugs and carpet by itself, which saves fiddling with settings. Some find it unnecessary, though, and on at least one unit it kept boosting on wood floors and ran the battery down early.
It can. The brush bar on the BHFEA18D1 tends to grab rug edges, cords or loose fibres and shut off until you clear it, and on some short-pile rugs it barely copes. Other rugs go fine, so it depends on what's on your floor.
A washable foam disc. It's simple to rinse and there's nothing to buy, though it's a basic filter and can be a little stiff to pull out of the POWERSERIES+. Let it dry fully before refitting it.
The battery takes approximately 4-5 hours to fully charge.
