Very well. Suction is strong on carpets, rugs and bare floors, and it pulls a lot of embedded dirt out of carpet. The self-cleaning brushroll on the UV725 mostly keeps hair off, though very long hair can still wrap, and LED headlights help spot what's left under furniture.

Usually, yes. The long cord reaches whole floors from a single outlet. There's no clip to keep it out of the way, though, so you'll be managing the slack by hand as you move the UV725 around. On stairs, the Lift-Away pod makes that easier to handle.
