About This Vacuum
The Shark IP1251 PowerDetect is a cordless stick vacuum with four detection technologies that automatically adjust suction based on surface type, edges, carpet transitions, and cleaning direction. The dual-brushroll DuoClean Detect nozzle picks up debris on both forward and reverse strokes, covering rooms faster than single-direction models. DirectionDetect technology is the key difference here. While most cordless vacuums only capture debris going forward, this nozzle works in both directions. The MultiFLEX wand bends to reach under furniture and folds for storage. Runtime reaches up to 70 minutes, though actual time depends on floor type and how often the auto-boost activates. It weighs 8 lb and works on all floor types, including carpet and mixed surfaces. Pet owners will find the hair pickup strong. The tradeoff is that auto-boost mode drains the battery faster, and runtime shortens on high-pile carpet or when detection triggers frequently. Best for medium to large homes where you want automatic power adjustment without switching modes manually.
Frequently Asked Questions
Usually, yes. For a cordless stick the IP1251 is often called strong, and it can clean carpet much like an upright. It doesn't win everyone over, though, and there's an occasional complaint of weak suction paired with a short battery, so put yours through a proper clean early on.
Yes, on mixed floors. The IP1251 raises power on its own when it reaches a rug and eases off again on hard floors, which saves switching modes by hand. A few find the automatic changes take some getting used to, but it's one of the better-liked parts of the vacuum.
It's listed at up to 60 minutes. Shark's product copy quotes 70 minutes, but that's measured on the hand vacuum in ECO mode, so expect less with the floor nozzle on and auto-boost kicking in.
Four things: hidden dirt, edges and corners, the floor type (carpet or hard floor), and which way you're pushing. It boosts power when it picks up dirt and debris.
Yes. Shark's DirectionDetect means the DuoClean Detect nozzle collects debris going forward and in reverse. The nozzle has two brushrolls.
An 8-inch Duster Crevice Tool and a Pet Multi-Tool. The MultiFLEX wand also bends to reach under furniture and folds for storage.
