Shark AZ2002 Vertex DuoClean PowerFins Upright Vacuum

Very strong. Suction is what comes up most for the AZ2002, and it pulls a lot of dirt out of carpet. The DuoClean head pairs a PowerFins brushroll with a soft roller, so it stays in contact on hard floors too.

No. The AZ2002 handles heavy dog and cat hair, and hair doesn't wrap around the self-cleaning brushroll. A Pet Power Brush and Pet Crevice Tool are included for furniture and the tight spots where fur builds up.

Yes. The AZ2002 comes apart without tools, and the canister lifts off so you can carry it up the stairs or onto the couch. The same trick helps when you need to clear a clog. The hose and the included pet tools take care of the upholstery once it's off.

It's split. At 19.61 lb, the AZ2002 feels heavy and bulky to some, while others say it isn't too heavy for an upright. Lifting off the canister for stairs means you don't have to carry the whole machine.

Years, in several long-term homes. The AZ2002 keeps its suction through frequent use, though one gave up after a brushroll belt failure. If the brushroll stops spinning, check the belt before assuming the motor is the problem, since that's the part that failed in the one case reported.

No. The AZ2002 is corded, so there's no battery and no runtime limit while it's plugged in. The 30 ft cord covers large rooms without much unplugging.
