Sanitaire Tradition Upright Commercial Vacuum

Yes. The Sanitaire SC689B has strong suction and does a thorough job on carpet, which is the main reason to pick a commercial upright. It's corded, so that suction doesn't fade partway through a clean the way it can on a battery machine.

Not very. At 14 lb, the Tradition is light for a commercial-style upright and easy to carry up a flight of stairs between floors. It runs on a cord, so you'll be carrying it to the next outlet as well, and that weight makes the trip easy.

Cheap to run, a bit awkward to empty. The SC689B is bagless, so there are no bags to buy, and the bin holds 1.7 L. Emptying it can be awkward, and in one case the dust from emptying was enough to make bags seem the better choice.

It's split. One cleaning business has run the Tradition for years, but some units feel flimsy at the hinges, and in one case the brush roll wore out within weeks. Check the brush roll in the first month and keep the receipt.
