About This Vacuum
The Dyson SV29 Outsize is rated at 90% more power and runs for up to 60 minutes on a single charge. The power trigger only runs the motor while squeezed, which conserves battery between uses. The larger format justifies the name. A 150% bigger bin means fewer emptying trips, and the 25% wider Digital Motorbar XL head covers more ground with each pass. An LCD screen displays remaining runtime in seconds, current power mode, and maintenance reminders. AUTO mode shifts suction to match floor type; two other modes handle specific tasks. The de-tangling head removes wrapped hair on its own, and the machine converts to a handheld for stairs, upholstery, and car interiors. The Hair screw tool pulls stubborn pet hair from furniture and car seats. Whole-machine filtration captures 99.99% of particles down to 0.3 microns. At 7.9 lb it can feel a bit heavy, though most accept the weight for the bigger bin and wider head. It suits large homes and pet owners who want fewer, longer cleaning sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Very. Pickup on the SV29 is strong and consistent, run after run. The de-tangling Digital Motorbar XL head clears wrapped hair on its own, and AUTO mode adjusts suction to the floor type, so carpet and hard floor get the right power without switching.
A bit, for some. At 7.9 lb it feels heavy to several, while others say it's light for its size. Most accept the weight as the cost of the bigger bin and wider head, but if you lift it often, try the SV29 in person first.
Yes, that's where it makes most sense. The wide head and 1.89-liter bin cut vacuuming time in larger homes, with about 1,500 square feet covered on a charge in one case. In a small apartment the SV29 can be more machine than you need.
Usually looking new. Most refurbished SV29 units show up in good shape, but the occasional one comes with poor-quality parts that fail quickly. Check the return terms and warranty on the listing before you buy, and test every mode in the first week.
Yes, it converts to a handheld. Dyson pitches the Hair screw tool for pet beds, car seats and stairs in that mode.
It comes with the Digital Motorbar XL cleaner head, which de-tangles long hair and pet hair, plus 4 Dyson accessories in total, including the Hair screw tool.
Dyson rates it for 60 minutes. There are 3 cleaning modes, including an Auto mode that adjusts power to the floor type, and the LCD shows the remaining run time to the second.
