Dyson Gen5outsize Cordless Vacuum

For a lot of homes, yes. With heavy-shedding dogs and dusty birds in the house, the Gen5outsize cleans like a plug-in machine and pulls up far more than the stick vacuums it tends to replace. The 1.9-liter bin also means fewer trips to the trash can.

Usually, if you stay on normal or auto power. Boost is the exception, because it drains the Gen5outsize much faster, so it's best saved for ground-in dirt and pet hair. Auto adjusts power to the floor type, and the LCD screen counts down the battery as you go.

Yes, especially on hard floors. The lit floor head on the Gen5outsize picks out fine dust you'd normally walk past, so you can tell when a pass is finished. Be warned that it also shows how much dirt was sitting there all along.

Mostly well, with one caveat. The Gen5outsize gets plenty of praise on carpets and rugs, but there's a report of it struggling on thick carpet compared with hard floors and tile. If your home is mostly deep pile, that's the part of the job to watch.

Dyson includes a combination tool, a crevice tool and a mini motorized tool, plus the Hair screw tool. That last one has a conical brush bar that pulls tangled hair off upholstery and stairs without wrapping. There's a 2-year warranty and support through the MyDyson app.
