About This Vacuum
Bissell's Pet Hair Eraser DualBrush 42946 is a corded upright with a pod that lifts off for stairs and upholstery. Two brush rolls run in the floor head: one agitates to loosen embedded dirt, and the other conforms to the floor to collect what's left, including larger debris. The FurGuard brush roll is self-cleaning, guiding hair toward a comb so it doesn't build up around the bristles. SurfaceSense adjusts brush roll speed to the floor type, and FurFinder headlights light up hair on the floor ahead of you. Filtration is Bissell's HEPA Sealed Allergen System, with a HEPA filter sealed inside the machine. It fits a home with carpet, hard floors and pets on the furniture. The listing we hold doesn't give a cord length or a capacity, so we can't tell you how far it reaches from one outlet or how often you'll empty it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. In homes with heavy-shedding dogs and cats, the 42946 pulls up a lot of hair, often in just a few passes. Bissell's FurGuard brush roll is built to steer hair toward a comb so it doesn't wrap the bristles, and the FurFinder headlights show what's still on the floor.
It can feel that way. It rolls easily across the floor, but several find the 42946 heavy to lift and tiring to twist around furniture, while one report calls it lighter than expected. For stairs, the lift-off pod means you only carry part of the machine up the steps.
Yes. The 42946 does well on both, from shag rugs to wood floors. Bissell's SurfaceSense adjusts the brush roll speed to the floor, and the two brush rolls split the work: one loosens embedded dirt and the other picks up what's left.
Bissell's Lift-Off Technology lets you detach the pod from the upright. You can then clean stairs, furniture and hard-to-reach areas without dragging the whole machine.
Bissell's listing for the 42946 doesn't state a cord length, so check the manual before planning how far it reaches from one outlet.
