About This Vacuum
Eureka's PowerSpeed NEU182B is a 10 lb bagless upright with a 960 W motor and a 2.6-liter dust cup, both checked against Eureka's site. Our data lists it for indoor use, and Eureka describes it on carpet, shag rugs and hard floors, with five height settings to match the surface. Its above-floor kit is stored on board. A quick-release handle connects to a stretch hose, and you get a 7-inch crevice tool, a dusting brush and an upholstery tool. Eureka suggests using them on car interiors, curtains, ceilings and door frames. The foam filter is washable, and Eureka says the wheels are smooth so hardwood floors won't get scratched or gouged. At 10 lb it's easy enough to carry between floors. Note that the listing gives a 4.1-liter cup in one place, but the checked figure is 2.6 liters. Our data has no cord length, and Eureka notes the handle may be plastic or metal depending on the production run.
Frequently Asked Questions
A lot. The NEU182B lifts a surprising amount of dirt from carpet and rugs, especially when you push it at a steady pace instead of rushing. Set one of the five height settings to match the pile so the brush stays in contact with the carpet.
It's short, stiff and awkward to switch over, and that's the common complaint about the NEU182B. Cleaning above the floor works, but expect a bit of wrestling to get the hose out and the tools on, and keep the vacuum close to whatever you're cleaning.
No. Assembly on the NEU182B is quick and easy straight out of the box, so you can be vacuuming soon after opening it. The attachments all store on the vacuum itself, so there's nothing loose to keep track of afterwards.
Yes. Dog and cat hair embedded in carpet comes up well with the NEU182B. The upholstery tool covers furniture, though the short hose limits how far you can reach with it, so you may need to move the vacuum around the sofa.
A quick-release handle with a stretch hose, a 7-inch crevice tool, a dusting brush and an upholstery tool. They're all stored on the vacuum.
Eureka says its smooth wheels are designed so hardwood floors won't sustain scratches or gouges. That's the maker's claim.
