Dirt Devil Scorpion Plus Handheld Vacuum

Yes. Carpeted stairs are a main job for the Scorpion Plus, and it gets steps clean. At 3 lb it's easy to hold step after step, and being corded, the suction doesn't fade halfway up the flight. Plan on an extension cord, though, since the cord often won't reach the top.

Often not, on stairs. The cord is short for a staircase, so finishing a full flight usually means an extension cord or moving to another outlet partway. Around a single room, a sofa or a car seat near a socket, the Scorpion Plus cord is fine, and there's no battery to run down.

Strong and steady for a handheld, and since it plugs in, it holds that pull for as long as the job takes. Crumbs, dirt and pet hair come up from hard floors, rugs and furniture. Keep the dirt cup emptied, since a full cup is the quickest way to lose suction on the SD30026B.

The 0.45 liter dirt cup is an easy-empty design, and it uses a cartridge filter. It comes with a crevice tool for narrow gaps.
